Paint The City Blue

Everton is to increase its city centre presence this Christmas in an effort to paint the city blue!

A trio of Everton related charities, Everton in the Community, The Everton Collection and The Everton Former Players’ Foundation have joined forces to open a fan-centric attraction in partnership the city’s Metquarter called the ‘Everton Experience’.

The new project will see the three charities opening a unit space which will be filled with unique Everton souvenirs from the world’s largest collection of sporting memorabilia, information on how supporters can get involved with the Club and even the odd legend – all to allow supporters to gain the ultimate Blues experience this winter.

Everton fans will also have the opportunity to buy exclusive signed merchandise and branded items, with all profits being split between the three charities.

The new Everton Experience, which is due to officially open in Liverpool’s exclusive Metquarter on Friday, 18 November 2011 and remain open until January 2012, will host a number of themed events including legends evenings and festive treats for all members of the local community. The opening celebrations take place on 24th November with The Ultimate Boys Night in with more events to follow.

Denise Barrett-Baxendale, Chief Executive of Everton in the Community, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity and we are delighted to be able to bring the Club closer to supporters by partnering with the Everton Collection and Everton Former Players’ Foundation. I would like to thank the Metquarter for donating this space at such an important time of year to allow us to open the Everton Experience.”

Lord Grantchester, Chair of the Board of Trustees of The Everton Collection Charitable Trust said: “We are delighted to be able to open the collection to the public, allowing fans of the sport to share in its heritage. This would not be possible without the support of Metquarter welcoming The Everton Collection, Everton in the Community and the Everton Former Players’ Foundation.”

Jennina O’Neil, Centre Manager for Metquarter added; “The Everton Collection is one of the world’s most important collections of sports memorabilia, charting the birth of football as we know it today. We are thrilled that the collection will be open daily until January 2012, and we hope that everyone will join us to welcome the collection on 24th November at the Ultimate Boys Night In.”

Everton Former Players’ Foundation Chairman, Laurence Lee, said: “EFPF is delighted to join our Everton sister charities at this wonderful facility kindly provided by the Metquarter. We hope the facility will provide fans with information about our charity and its work helping our former heroes in a blue shirt.”

The Everton Experience will be supporting the Metquarter’s ‘Ultimate Boys Night In’ on Thursday, 24 November when an appearance from an Everton legend will be part of the entertainment. The event will be raising money for the Blues’ official charity, Everton in the Community and CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).
