New Charity Challenge

Everton Football Club is embarking on a new international charity challenge for the 2011/12 season.

Three members of staff will be tackling the Inca Trail in Peru hoping to raise in excess of 35,000 for the Club’s official charity, Everton in the Community.

In May 2012, Chris Clarke, Business Development Manager for Everton in the Community, Clare Archibald, HR Officer and Receptionist Deborah Hunter-Frackleton, will trek at high altitudes for five gruelling days from Cusco, hidden deep in the Andes mountains, to the lost city of Machu Picchu.Everton in the Community is appealing to fans for their support to help make this year’s exciting challenge the most successful yet.

Last year, Everton staff helped to raise over 30,000 by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

Denise Barrett-Baxendale, Chief Executive of Everton in the Community said: “This will be our second international fundraising challenge in as many years and after the successes of Team Kili last season, I am confident we will raise another significant amount of money for Everton in the Community.

“As a charity we rely heavily on the kindness of people to be able to continue our life-changing programmes. I am sure Evertonians will get behind this new challenge for the benefit of the local community.”

There are still six places left on this adventure of a lifetime. Participants who sign up to the challenge will receive the full support of Everton in the Community, who will provide training and fundraising advice every step of the way.

There is a 499 registration fee, which can be staggered over four payments and participants are asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of 3,465.

All monies raised from this challenge will be invested into programmes delivered by Everton in the Community to promote health, education, social inclusion and equality of opportunity across Merseyside.
