Everton in the Community’s ‘Everton 4 Employment’ programme works in partnership with Jobcentre Plus to help motive, educate and inspire local people back into a career they aspire to do.
Everton in the Community is dedicated to working alongside local people to help them back into work and uses the power of the football club to engage with the long-term unemployed.
The Blues’ official charity began delivery of the employment programme in 2009 and has since engaged with over 200 people over a series of 13 courses.
The Everton 4 Employment programme boasts a 97 per cent retention rate for candidates and has so far helped 50 per cent of participants into employment within six weeks of completing the course with 80 per cent of those sustaining their employment six months later.
The six-week courses are delivered from Goodison Park and other sports venues across Merseyside and offer participants the opportunity to gain a range of qualifications, including first aid, health and safety in the workplace, sports leadership and business enterprise.
Training is also provided on writing CVs, interview techniques and job searching tips as well as a series of workshops to improve their confidence and employability skills – and participants are also treated to a stadium tour and invited to a match at Goodison Park.
Local employers and businesses also help to make the course a huge success, including Morrison, Merseytravel, Liverpool One, QVC, Jaguar Land Rover, B&B Hygiene, Chums, Benson Signs, Crowne Plaza, Hilton & Atlantic Tower Hotels by providing services, work placements, interviews and job opportunities to candidates.
